However, you should keep in mind that the Lotus Project is licensed under the GPLv2 license, which allows commercial use of the project, however it requires you to open a PR or inform the Lotus Project Team if you made any changes to the core code

Lotus is doing this because we want to ensure that everyone has access to all of its features

It does not mean that your lua scripts should be shared with others. We actually use BSD licenses for lua scripts, which allow you to hide your scripts according to your preferences
